Toyota Urban Cruiser BEV Unveiled in Indonesia, which is positioned below the bZ4X with 426km range, aggressive pricing, and a 61.1kWh battery, is expected to launch in India in 2026 alongside the locally assembled bZ4X.
Toyota Urban Cruiser BEV Unveiled: At GJAW 2025, Toyota made a more forceful entry into the Indonesian electric vehicle market. Toyota unveiled two electrified SUVs, the bZ4X and the Urban Cruiser BEV, and positioned them in the same aggressive price range while the other automakers were busy showcasing their concepts.

Now confirmed to be assembled locally in Indonesia by late 2025, the bZ4X is expected to achieve strong volume sales. The Maruti Suzuki e-Vitara, which will be on sale next month, is supported by the same Heartect e platform. Both vehicles are produced at Suzuki’s Gujarat facility and have many similarities. The Urban Cruiser BEV, which will compete in the midsize electric SUV market, is anticipated to reach India in the first half of 2026.
The majority of purchasers could not afford the earlier versions that were imported from Japan since their prices were significantly more than one billion rupiah. Toyota has reduced its price to IDR 799 million (about Rs. 42.93 lakh) OTR Jakarta through local production, making it a far more practical choice in the expanding EV market.

It enables automobile owners to monitor the status of their vehicles, verify important details, and communicate with them from a distance. But the bZ4X goes above and beyond with extra connected features, including an onboard Wi-Fi hotspot, real-time vehicle information, and a remote immobiliser function. Since it would be the brand’s first all-electric product available in India, the Urban Cruiser BEV is very significant. In January 2025, it was displayed at BMGE in Delhi.
The domestically assembled bZ4X is not a downgrade in theory. It has a front-wheel drive configuration and a 73.11 kWh battery pack. According to Toyota, it can go up to 525 kilometres on a single charge. The maximum torque is 192 Nm, and the power output is 172 horsepower. The T Intouch connectivity technology from Toyota is installed in both electric SUVs.

The electric motor has a maximum power output of about 221 horsepower and a peak torque rating of 268 Nm. The Urban Cruiser BEV, a completely assembled import, is positioned just below it. Toyota has reduced the price to IDR 759 million OTR Jakarta, or roughly Rs. 40.78 lakh. With a claimed range of 426.7 kilometres, the midsize e-SUV is powered by a smaller 61.1 kWh battery.
