Hyundai Crater concept

The Hyundai Crater concept has a strong, masculine exterior with an imposing visual presence; its upright front and rear, high ground clearance, and muscular surfaces give it a confident, tread-anywhere look.

On off-road paths, large skid plates minimise the accumulation of material like sand, mud, and snow and offer vital protection from rocks and other hazards. The idea is to subtly incorporate heavy-duty recuperation points at the front and back, although the teasers don’t reveal it. The tough adventure-ready appearance is completed with a carrier and auxiliary lights put on the roof.

The Hyundai Crater has smart design elements throughout, so it’s not just a boxy, vintage SUV. At the front, incredibly thin headlamps with a pixel-like shape are integrated into the body. In a similar vein, the brand logo’s four lighted dots spell “H” in Morse code.

The extra-wide, knobby tyres are elegantly exposed by special bumpers made to provide high approach and departure angles. Prominent power bulges on a high-set, sculpted bonnet improve front-corner judgment on narrow trails while also enhancing the rugged appearance.

A modified version of the Hyundai Santa Fe’s platform might serve as the basis for the production version of the Hyundai Crater, which would rival vehicles like the Toyota 4Runner, Ford Bronco, and Jeep Wrangler. We don’t see the road-ready model arriving in India, although it might be unveiled by 2028.

Hyundai Crater concept

The Hyundai Crater has a remarkably elegant glasshouse for a car of its kind and camera-based virtual mirrors on the sides in place of standard glass ones. The tail lights at the back are designed to resemble the headlights, and the word “H” is written in Morse code using lighted dots that resemble pixels.

However, Hyundai is developing an off-road SUV for India that might incorporate certain aspects of the Crater idea. Although it will probably be priced in a considerably cheaper market, the Indian model should compete with the 2028 Toyota Land Cruiser FJ.
