Top Hatchbacks Oct 2025: At least in certain quarters, the hatchback market had an intriguing outcome last month. The Maruti Suzuki WagonR garnered the most attention, demonstrating once more why it is a mass-market favourite.

Maruti Suzuki WagonR recorded 18,970 units in October 2025, up 36% from 13,922 units the previous year. The timing of the GST 2.0 price reduction could not have been more ideal.
The Tiago had the largest YoY rise of all, with 8,850 units compared to just 4,682 units the previous year, leading in a huge 89% YoY sales surge. Its ranking in the top five indicates that consumers still appreciate its price, wide range, and safety-first construction. The Altroz also had a significant increase, rising 43% to 3,770 units from 2,642 units the previous year.

The Maruti Suzuki Baleno came in second with 16,873 units, which was just somewhat more than the 16,082 units it produced a year earlier. Although the 5% YoY rise isn’t very noteworthy, it shows that the luxury hatchback has a devoted following. The Maruti Suzuki Swift, on the other hand, had an 11% decline to 15,542 units from 17,539 units the previous year.
But October was more difficult for Hyundai’s hatchbacks. The Grand i10 Nios saw a 13% decrease, from 6,235 to 5,426 units. In October 2025, the Korean pair could only place seventh and eighth, respectively, and the i20 fell precipitously from 5,354 to 4,023 units, a 25% decline.

Thanks to the Glanza, Toyota had one of its best months in this market. The model increased sales 44% to 6,162 units this October compared to 4,273 last year, and it even overtook Alto for sixth place. Maruti’s tested mechanicals and Toyota’s reputation for dependability appear to be working. The Maruti Suzuki S-Presso, which increased to 2,857 units from 2,139 units the previous year—a 34% improvement.
