The Google Phone app now offers a new call recording feature for several Pixel users. Users using the November Feature Drop and version 198 of the Google Phone app can see the option, according to a 9to5Google report. According to reports, beta users with more recent releases are also starting to get it.
Native call recording on older Pixels has been discreetly enabled by the business, and sources now confirm that the feature is being made available to more users. Although Google declared in September that earlier Pixels would support call recording, the capability was not yet publicly accessible. Over the next few days, additional compatible devices should be able to access the rollout as it grows.

The feature will be available on all compatible Pixel phones, beginning with the Pixel 6, according to the company. AI-powered call notes and recording features are already included with Google’s Pixel 9 and Pixel 10 models. As a result, Pixel 7 and Pixel 8 series models should soon be able to use the feature.
Notably, earlier this week, Google released the November 2025 Pixel Feature Drop, which included a number of improvements for Pixel devices. The Messages app now has a Remix tool that allows users to alter photographs using the Nano Banana editing approach. AI-driven notification summaries, which are supposed to show important information faster, and new notifications that alert users to possible scams in chat messages are also included in the update.

The software will beep or play a warning message to notify the other caller when a recording begins. Regional laws mandate this, and it cannot be disabled. The Phone app’s Call Recording feature is located under Settings > Call Assist once the update is released. Once enabled, users have the option to record calls from particular contacts or unknown numbers automatically. For manual recording, a record button will also show up on the call screen.
