The Galaxy Z Fold 8 is anticipated to appear in 2026, and Samsung has reportedly set a goal to ship 6.7 million handsets. The move may “cannibalize” sales of Samsung foldables, according to the report, even if it was not made in advance of the release of the iPhone Fold, which may be Apple’s first foldable phone. According to reports, the company intends to put its foldable phones “at the center of its foldable smartphone business” (translated from Korean).

The Bell, a South Korean newspaper that cites industry sources, claims that the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 8 may be roughly 10% lighter and thinner than the Galaxy Z Fold 7. According to reports, the tech giant intends to boost sales of its alleged next-generation flagship foldable phone by 10% over its predecessor. For comparison, the unfolded thickness of the Galaxy Z Fold 7 is 4.2 mm.

Finally, with the release of the Galaxy Z Fold 8, the South Korean manufacturer intends to revive compatibility for its S-Pen stylus. The Galaxy Z Fold 7 was introduced sans S Pen functionality on July 9 at the Galaxy Unpacked 2025 event. The handset was made lighter and thinner by removing the support.

Samsung may be considering more upgrades for the Galaxy Z Fold 8. According to a recent claim, the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 8 may have a 5,000mAh battery—much more than the 4,400mAh battery seen in the Galaxy Z Fold 7. Additionally, it is reportedly made utilising “laser-drilling metal plate technology” (translated from Korean), which will allow the tech giant to reduce internal creases in the flexible display.
