Triumph Speed 400 and Speed T4 Prices Cut in India: Triumph Motorcycles defied market predictions by lowering the pricing on its Speed line during the holiday season, a welcome but unexpected move following the increase in GST on motorcycles larger than 350cc to 40%. Triumph and Bajaj Auto have decided to absorb the hike rather than transferring the additional tax to consumers.

Official Statement from Bajaj Auto

Manik Nangia, President, Probiking, Bajaj Auto Ltd., commenting on the price drop and said: “The Speed 400 and Speed T4 have set benchmarks in performance, design, and accessibility. By absorbing the impact and introducing a price slash, Triumph and Bajaj Auto are reaffirming their focus on the Indian market and its customers, ensuring the Speed range continues to deliver unmatched value.”

Updated Prices and Savings for the Festive Season

The Speed 400’s price has been lowered from Rs. 2,50,551 to Rs. 2,33,754, while the Speed T4’s price has been lowered from Rs. 2,06,738 to Rs. 1,92,539. The models are particularly alluring during the holiday season because of the decreased sticker tags, which add up to savings of around Rs. 17,000. In retrospect, the savings of about Rs. 40,000 are significant because they would have otherwise had to bear a rise of more than Rs. 22,000.

Future Plans and 350cc Model in Development

The British manufacturer has disclosed no such price cut for the Thruxton or Scram 400s. The Triumph Speed 400 is now only Rs. 10,000 more expensive than it was when it first hit the market in 2023, thanks to the reduction. Triumph is reportedly planning to introduce a 350 cc motorbike soon in order to further enter the entry-level middleweight motorcycle market.

Triumph’s Growing Popularity and Market Response

Triumph’s Speed series has expanded rapidly since FY23–24, with monthly sales almost doubling. Within a year of its launch, the Speed 400 and Scrambler 400X sold over 50,000 units combined, and they were well-received in international markets as well. The Thruxton 400, which features a vintage cafe racer appearance, was the latest addition to the 400 cc line.

Triumph Speed 400: Engine and Features

A 398.15 cc, liquid-cooled, single-cylinder DOHC engine powers the Triumph Speed 400. It produces 39.5 bhp at 8,000 rpm and a maximum torque of 37.5 Nm at 6,500 rpm. The engine is mated to a 6-speed gearbox with a torque-assist clutch. It has a Bosch dual-channel ABS unit, switchable traction control, and a ride-by-wire throttle system.

Suspension, Chassis, and Premium Features

The chassis has a gas-charged monoshock at the back, upside-down 43mm forks up front, and a hybrid spine/perimeter frame with a bolt-on rear subframe. Premium features like LED lighting with DRL, a 230 mm rear disc with ABS, and a 300 mm fixed disc with a four-piston radial calliper up front are all included with the Triumph Speed 400. The same engine powers the Triumph Speed T4, producing 30.6 horsepower and 36 Nm.

Triumph’s strong customer-first strategy is demonstrated by its choice to cut prices in spite of the GST spike. Bajaj Auto and Triumph have improved their standing in the mid-cap motorcycle market in India by taking on the tax burden rather than passing it on. For riders looking for performance, design, and cutting-edge features at competitive costs, the Speed 400 and Speed T4 now provide even more value. This action is probably going to increase sales even more and maintain Triumph’s lead over competitors in the rapidly expanding premium bike market.
