Born Electric SUV Sales Performance

In August 2025, sales of the brand-new Born Electric SUVs, the BE 6 and XEV 9e, were 1,551 and 2,313 units, respectively. However, the company managed volumes of only 66 units in August 2025 as opposed to 713 units sold in the same month last year, causing the XUV 4OO sales to drop to just double digits for the first time. It experienced a huge 91 percent YoY de-growth.

XUV 7OO & XUV 3XO Witness Sharp Decline

The XUV 7OO, the brand’s flagship model, fell short of expectations last month, with sales of 4,956 units compared to 9,007 units in August 2024, representing a 45 percent YoY decline. The XUV 3XO suffered the same fate, seeing a precipitous drop in volume from 9,000 units in August 2024 to 5,521 units in August 2025. 39 percent was the YoY de-growth rate.

Thar & Thar Roxx Show Strong Growth

In August 2025, Mahindra Thar and Thar Roxx sold 6,997 units together, which is a significant increase over the same month the previous year. Deliveries began a few months after the Thar Roxx was unveiled on August 15, 2024. In August 2024, the company sold 4,268 Thar units, resulting in a 64% YoY increase.

Scorpio Leads Model-Wise Sales But With Decline

With 9,840 units sold in August 2025, the Mahindra Scorpio topped the sales breakdown by model. However, even though it was the best-selling business model, the company sold 13,787 units in August 2024, resulting in a YoY negative growth of 29%. With shipments of 8,109 units last month compared to 6,494 units in August 2024, the Bolero maintained its winning streak. As a result, the tough SUV had a 25% YoY increase.

Marazzo Records Unusual Growth Despite Low Numbers

Last but not least, sales of the Mahindra Marazzo, which is anticipated to be phased out of the market shortly, increased significantly from 8 units sold in August 2024 to 46 units sold in August 2025. Its YoY rise of 475 percent was impressive. These figures, however, are illogical given that the MPV is nearing the end of its life and dealers are heavily discounting their remaining inventory.

Overall Sales Decline Ahead Of GST 2.0 Reforms

Mahindra’s August 2025 sales show a noticeable decline overall as consumers await the introduction of GST 2.0. Major volume drivers like the Scorpio, XUV700, and XUV 3XO saw sharp declines, paving the way for a demand recovery following the September GST reforms, while models like the Bolero and Thar/Roxx resisted the trend with robust growth.

Upcoming Mahindra Launches To Drive Future Sales

In the upcoming months, Mahindra & Mahindra intends to launch a number of new vehicles, including the 2025 Thar facelift, the 2026 XUV 7OO facelift, and the XEV 7e seven-seater electric SUV. Therefore, the introduction of these models is probably going to increase sales and assist the brand in reclaiming the second position from Hyundai and Tata in the Indian market.
